I Cheini - Barbera del Monferrato (Designation of Origin Controlled)
Grape Variety: 100% Barbera
Vinification: Aged in stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, and bottles.
Bouquet: Intense aromas of red fruit, spices, cocoa, balsamic notes, and hints of Cuban cigar.
Taste: Full, harmonious, warm, and mature.
Barbera del Monferrato "I Cheini" is crafted from the winery's oldest vineyards. The extended maceration on grape skins and aging in wooden barrels impart a rich complexity, making it ideal for pairing with game and aged cheese. Also celebrated as a "meditation wine" to savor slowly with a good book.
Tasting note Robin Fennis: “Barbera of older vines; avg 40-45 yrs. Deep crimson-red color. Floral nose, hint of mint, cherries. Med+ acids, med/med+ somewhat biting tannins. Spicy, concentrated, complete, balanced, and with a med+ finish. Nice depth. 16 pts out of 20”
