Producer details
The extra attention the company put behind Brunello is also revealed in the concept of introducing the Cru: Montosoli is in fact a vineyard of about 5 hectares to the northeast of Montalcino at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters, whose grapes were fermented and aged separately for the first time after the 1975 harvest. The composition of the soil (marly limestone and siliceous limestone representing the Alberese era with lithoid components dating from the same period), the unique position and the particular microclimate contribute to aging the grapes which produce an extremely complex and elegant wine. Altesino has received important international recognition for its Cru Montosoli when Wine Spectator called it Italy’s second most representative vineyard.

Ratings
98 points - Wine Spectator "A stunning red, delivering peony, strawberry, cherry, and mineral flavors, accented by notes of wild herbs. Intense and deep, with great purity and elegance, a firmly wrought structure, and a long finish. The harmony between fruit, tannins, and acidity should allow this to age beautifully."

97 points - James Suckling Beautiful aromas of dark fruits and minerals. Full-bodied, succulent and chewy. It's tight and stony. Lots of black olives and wet earth under the fruit. Bright and linear wine with beautiful layers.
