Los Manantiales 2023 – Single Parcel Rioja Blanco

A Rare Expression of Terroir: Depth, Finesse, and Aging Potential

Los Manantiales 2023 is a distinguished white wine crafted from a single bush-trained vineyard located in La Unión Clavijo, La Rioja. This wine showcases a profound identity, seamlessly blending aromatic purity with a structured, silky texture born from poor clay-limestone soils and extended aging. With a limited production of just 3,927 bottles, it represents a precise and expressive side of traditional Rioja varieties.

Tasting Profile

  • Appearance: A clean and bright pale yellow hue enhanced by golden highlights of medium to high intensity.

  • Nose: Elegant and complex, opening with ripe white fruits like pear and reinette apple alongside soft citrus and floral hints.

  • Aeration: As the wine breathes, sophisticated notes of raw almond, fennel, toasted bread, and fine spices emerge, perfectly integrated from its time in French oak.

  • Palate: A broad and enveloping entry with a silky texture shaped by concrete fermentation and extended aging.

  • Balance: It strikes an excellent balance between volume and freshness, supported by well-integrated acidity that provides tension and length.

  • Finish: Long and persistent, characterized by mineral and saline notes with a refined bitter edge.

Viticulture & Craftsmanship

The 2023 vintage benefited from winter rainfall and a dry, warm summer, allowing for slow, homogeneous ripening that resulted in optimal concentration and freshness.

  • Varieties: A traditional blend of 70% Viura, 20% Garnacha Blanca, and 10% Malvasia.

  • Winemaking: Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks.

  • Aging: The wine is aged for 20 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.

  • Yields: Extremely low yields of 3,500 kg per hectare ensure intense fruit expression and quality.
