100% Albariño, Dominio O’Secreto, 2021, Condado do Tea (Rías Baixas), Spain
Dominio O’Secreto is a micro-production Albariño from a small, family-run Rioja winery that fell in love with Galicia. Mario and Belén discovered the Condado do Tea subzone during a summer trip and were inspired by its granite slopes, Atlantic energy, and potential for long-lived white wines. This project reflects their signature style: respectful viticulture, minimal intervention, and a focus on expressing the soul of the vineyard.
The vineyard comprises just 1 hectare on a steep, south-facing slope, planted with 35- and 13-year-old vines. Grapes are hand-selected for structure and ripeness, fermented in stainless steel at 18°C, and aged 12 months on fine lees for texture and complexity. After bottling, the wine rests for another 12 months before release. No fining or filtration—clarification is done naturally by gravity.
2021 was a cool and challenging vintage with a slow-developing season and wide day-night temperature swings, ideal for preserving Albariño’s acidity and aromatics. The result: healthy, balanced grapes full of Atlantic character and nuance.
Tasting note: Yellow with green reflections and golden hints. Intense aromas of ripe fruit, citrus, white flowers, and light tropical notes. With time in bottle, subtle honey develops. On the palate: lively acidity, generous texture, and a long, fresh, mineral finish. Elegant and expressive, with clear aging potential.
Food pairing: A natural partner for seafood: shellfish, grilled fish, octopus, and ceviche. Also excellent with light tapas, semi-cured cheeses, or lightly spiced Asian dishes.
Only ~5,000 bottles produced per year.
